Texas Holdem Poker Rules

Texas Holdem is the most popular of all types of poker. In the 1990’s and the decade of the 2000’s, Texas Holdem has exploded in terms of popularity. You will find lots of games online and offline. Texas Holdem is the form of poker that is played in most in casinos. It can also be viewed on television shows such as the World Poker Tour and the World Series of Poker. The basic rules of Texas Holdem poker will be explained below.

Texas Holdem requires a dealer. He or she will shuffle the deck, which consists of the standard 52 cards. When an individual is playing in a casino, the dealer does not play. In most instances, the game will begin with the two individuals to the left of the dealer. They will put money into the pot prior to the cards being dealt. This is known as posting the blinds. The first blind typically goes to the player on the left of the dealer and they will put in half of the minimum bet. The second blind will put in the full amount of the minimum bet. Each player is given two cards which are facing down. These are called the hole cards. Bidding then ensues, starting with the player to the left of the initial two who posted the blinds. An individual can raise, call or fold when their turn comes up.

After the first round of bets, the dealer will then get rid of the top card on the deck. This is referred to as burning the card and it is done to make sure that no one has seen the top card and if they have, to prevent them from using it for their advantage. The dealer will then flip the next three cards, face up on the table. These are called the flop. At some point, there will be five community cards all facing up on the table. Players can use any combo of their two hole cards along with the community cards to form the best five card poker hand. After the flop, betting takes place again starting with the player to the left of the dealer. After this, players can call, fold, raise or check when it is their turn.

The dealer will then burn another card and will face one more card on the table. This is called fourth street or the turn. It is the fourth community card. The dealer turns over another card, burns another card, and then places a fifth card face up on the table. This is referred to as either fifth street, or the river. Now the players can use any combo of seven cards, including the two hole cards that only they have seen and the five community cards facing up, to create the best poker hand at the table.

After the final bets are made, the people who are still in the game will show their hands. The player who made the last raise or the initial bet will show their hand first. The individual with the best hand wins the game.
