Jennifer Harman

There are many poker players who dream of becoming big names in the game of poker, which is not impossible because many other players have gone through the same process to be able to reach the celebrity status they are enjoying currently. Consider it just like any sport or competition where you have to consistently show your skills and prove once and for all that the poker tournaments you won are not a fluke and that you can continue shining in a filed of hundreds and thousands of players. Jennifer Harman is one such player who has proven time and again that she is on top of her game, and she can be just as good as any male poker player who usually dominates this industry.

Beginnings as a Poker Player

Jennifer Harman was born in Reno, a popular spot in Nevada on November 29, 1964. She has a reputation for her preference of playing cash games and has also lately been seen playing in tournaments. She won her first bracelet from the WSOP Deuce to Seven Lowball event last 2000 against famous players like Steve Zolotow and Lyle Berman. What is amazing with this win is that she has no prior experience of playing this particular game before. Instead, she only got a short 5-minute crash course from Howard Lederer prior to the game. To show that she can do it again, she got her 2nd WSOP bracelet two years after at a $5,000 Limit Holdem event. In that event were poker big names including Mimi Tran, Allen Cunningham and Humberto Brenes.

Personal Difficulties

While playing poker, Jennifer Harman had to take some time off to get a kidney transplant. This health problem is the same disease that took her motherís life when she was still 17. In fact, this was her second kidney transplant in 2004 since she had been nursing this condition since childhood. After this operation, she went on to raise funding to create awareness about kidney problems through CODA or Creating Organ Donation Awareness.

After this health setback, she got back in the poker circuit to finish 2nd in the WSOP Circuit Championship, Fourth place at the 5 Diamond World Poker Classic of the World Poker Tour and Fifth at the Professional Poker Tour. Aside from playing, she has also penned a chapter on Limit Holdem of the Super System II. To this day, she is still active in the poker circles.
